To make an existing patient's record active, search for the record and select it from the search results list.
The Patient Search box is located in the bottom right of the main i-Clarity screen.
You can search for Patient ID, Name (Last, First), Date of Birth (08/11/1971), Postcode (TE1 1ST), Mobile (6 digits) or Global ID (G12345).
As you type into this box, the possible options in the search box will reduce. Once you have found the patient you want, click on it to open their Patient Record.
When typing in a patient name, it is the comma space that signifies to the system that you are switching the search from surname to last name.
You can use this comma space at any point when typing the name. For example, if you have a common, long or difficult to spell surname, you may wish to type only the first few letters of the surname followed by the comma space and then the first name.
For example sm, jo.
The system will then search for any patients whose surname begins with 'sm' and whose first name begins with 'jo'.
You could also type the comma space into the name field first followed by the first name, e.g. ', Mary'.
The system will then ignore patient surnames and just search for Patient Records with the first name Mary.
Advanced Patient Search
i-Clarity also has an Advanced Search facility. The Advanced Search button is located at the top of the Patient Search.
Clicking on this button will display the search box shown below.
Type in the information you have in the relevant field of the Advanced Search window and then click 'Search'.
Any of the search criteria typed into any of the fields in Advanced Search will contain approximate matches, so if you typed in the letter 'a' into the name field, all records with the letter 'a' anywhere in the name will be shown.
The one exception to this is the Global System Identifier, which must be an exact match. So if the identifier was 12345, entering 12 would not bring up this record. Only entering an exact match of 12345 would.
- The address field corresponds to any matches found in Address line 1-5 on the Patient Record.
- The postcode field corresponds to any matches found in the Postcode Field.
- The telephone field corresponds to any matches in the day, evening or mobile fields on the Patient Record.
- The date of birth field corresponds to any matches found in the Date of Birth field on the Patient Record.
- The email field corresponds to any matches found in the Email field on the Patient Record.
- The global system id field corresponds to an exact match found in the Global ID on the Patient Record.
Cross-Branch Search
If applicable, i-Clarity also has a cross-branch search which will allow you to search for patients across more than one branch. The Cross-Branch Search is also in the Advanced Search box. To search for a patient in a different branch or across all branches, click on the Branch drop-down in Advanced Search and change it to the specific branch you want to search or to All Branches.
When a patient is listed in a different branch to the current branch, the Patient ID will be highlighted in a different colour.
If you open the Patient Record of a patient in a different branch to the selected branch, the branch that the patient belongs to will be displayed in red next to the Patient ID and a warning will also be displayed at the bottom of the Patient Record.
